As we know,
December 26th is a huge shopping day, perhaps one that is slightly
under par with Black Friday. Of course the insanity is at an entirely different
level and the stores are going to be swamped for an entirely different reason,
with gifts being returned for a variety reason, as opposed to people madly
rushing to buy things for sales, although there are some sales to be had during
this time, as stores unload surplus stuff for Christmas.
There are a wide variety of
things that have been returned after Christmas. Clothes is obviously a no
brainer for something that is going to be returned a lot of the time. Not the
right brand, not the right color, not the right size, there are any number of
reasons why clothes are going to be an item that is going to be returned after
being gifted for Christmas. Shirts, shoes, pants, whatever, anything is fair
game.
Jewelry and electronics are items
also finding their way right back to the store. Given that those seem to be the
big three for Christmas gifts, at least for teenagers and adults, it is to be
expected. Early estimations right after Christmas indicated that there would be
over 46 million worth of gifts returned, which is insane but that is what we do
here at the Blog of Insanity, things are are insane.
I’m happy and many others were,
but there are times where there are ill gotten gifts to be had. Clothes has
always been a problem for Christmas and they are a gift that has been returned.
So clothes, jewelry, and electronics of various sorts. With Christmas pretty
much in the books, as we are going to put away the decorations and find places
to put things within the next couple of days, we prepare to 2012 and hope that
this will be a better year.
Something that many hope every
year I think.
