Gap Between the Rich and Poor in Current Economy

Economics can be a fun thing. While throwing away terms like the "one percent" does seem absurd on every convention level, there is some truth in these mutterings. The economy going down the sewers over the past five years, have lead to a lot of people losing out. This current recession, very near borderline depression has rather wiped out most what remained of the middle class, not that it has been a strong group in a last a couple of decades.

We are left with the wealthy, perhaps a small minority that are comfortable enough but not have money to blow, and a huge group of people who are hovering right beneath the poverty line. It is rather hard to see the disconnect and how many people are just struggling to eat. There will always be people like this. The law of averages are that there much be poor and suffering to balance out before those who are rich and famous.

There are people who have entered the toxic sludge and wasteland that is an economy and somehow, someway have come out smelling like a rose. It is hard not to feel the slight bit envious about these people. Who despite the economy collapsing, there are people who are still living the good life and in many times, the great life.

In the back of our minds, we would be just like them. It is easy to take the moral high ground when you are poor and suffering, because that's all you got. Those who are wealthy, despite the economy, you can see them look at those who are suffering. Perhaps they feel a bit of sympathy, perhaps not, but they know that is not a life they will be comfortable with. Therefore they entrap themselves into what is an entirely different world.

The gap is really getting huge. There are those people who despite the economy are still able to buy the nicest things in life and not feel threatened that the good times will not stop rolling. While others are just scrapping by one more dollar just so they can eat a decent meal or so the Repo Man does not come buy.

In life, it does seem you either have the best of everything or not much of anything. In this economy, there are only a few exceptions. Many people have said it is almost like there is a separate economy with separate considerations. Perhaps that is too far fetched.

In the end, the world of the wealthy and those in poverty is rather separate. In a bad economy, it can seem to have far more a disconnect.
