The Problem with Religion

Since any number of religions have been established, there have always been some conflicts. When the merest whisper of religion comes up on any website, those who know the drill by now just cringe as they anticipate what will occur and the fallout which will be brought right to the forefront. Religion, along with politics, are the two topics that people are passionate about. It is all well and good when people are passionate about something, but some individuals take it to the nearest extremes.

The issue with religion is this in a nutshell. It is not so much that people fight over their religions. It is the compulsion to jump down the throats of everyone that tends to follow a different set of beliefs. It is not much better when someone who doesn't believe in God tells those who have certain faiths that do that they are being illogical, as it is when those who do believe in God say that those who do not follow the one true path are going to burn right in hell.

If it does look like sometimes that people are trying to make themselves look like the better person, because it is.

You may find that most people of all beliefs are level headed. Of course, you hear very little about the level headed people in any system of beliefs or non beliefs. They are the people who are willing to let it be and just respect that their beliefs might not be the one that holds the answers for everyone. As long as it holds the answers for them, then let it be, that's what it is.

It should be the end.

But because of a vocal minority of people out there, who do tend to engage in the bashing of other beliefs, it does tar everyone by extension. I'm sure others who do follow those beliefs cringe just a little bit when they hear the hardline fanatics at it again. Because that's going to sour the opinions that others have of anyone who holds their religious beliefs, even if they are minding their own business.

Also, you wonder how strong is the faith of those who are yelling. It is often said that those who yell the loudest are often the ones trying to convince themselves of the argument. Yet, they are desperately trying to convince many, but really it almost sounds as if these people are shouting at themselves.

Religion is something that will be debated until the very moment that all humans are extinct. It is just in our nature to look beyond what we see with our eyes, to explain the mysteries of the world. Perhaps in some ways there is no one true answer, but in the end, we'll find out one way or another, when we pass from this world.

Religion is both a boon and a blight to the world, as in it has helped many people but at the same time, has lead to bloodshed and torment. A dream of many is people of all faiths can live side by side, and respect the beliefs of others, even if they do not completely understand.

However, how society is, this might be just merely a dream.
