Gas Prices Rise and May Yet Go Higher

What is the ceiling for fuel prices in the United States? Some time ago, people were mortified when gas prices edged up over three dollars, and now the fuel prices in the United States cost four dollars a gallon. It is utter insanity at its finest, but the insane thing is that we as American people are rather helpless to fight it. Either we pull open our wallets a little further or we stop driving full stop.

Sadly, stopping driving is not a luxury that many have, but it is also something that many who can do, who can choose to walk as opposed to drive, would rather save a little amount of time to drive their car in distances that can be easily walked. But throwing that point out the window, any attempt to find an alternate form of fuel will be met with some form of rebellion.

Gas Prices Are High and Only Will Get Higher.

We are at a rather harsh point in the United States. The sins of many years have caught up to us and it is not those who made the foolish short sighted decisions that are being punished. Rather those who have nothing to do with any decision that can be made. Who try and push and protest, but the more those who still haven't given up push, the further law makers stick their heads right in the sand.

The price at the pumps is corporate greed at its best, but really it is exploiting a dependency that your average American has. Most have to drive and they know that no matter how much a lot of us complain about the price of gasoline, at the end of the day, the vast majority of Americans will be filling that tank up and will be making a lot of needless driving. There have been whispers about attempts to find an alternate fuel source to cut down our dependencies, but we all know if it hasn't happened by now, it's not likely going to have any serious ramifications.

The prices at the gas station are enough to make a grown man cry. And many grown men have cried. Five dollars could be coming soon. Especially during the summer months, with travel, gas prices tend to edge a little bit higher. Given foreign oil speculators adding their two cents and you lead to a mess regarding fueling your car. Might as well break out your sneakers or bike or whatever and move around that way. Chances are we could all use a bit more exercise anyway and avoiding driving when we can will ease our own personal burden.

Then again, greed based on things we are dependent on to live is really something that has been the rule, rather than the exception right now. Take a close look at the packages in the grocery store. Quantity has gone done, quality has remained the same if not worse, and prices have gone up. We need food, we need fuel, and both have prices that are set by individuals who know that they can easily exploit what we need.

Welcome to 2012. Where what little money you are likely making is going to be ripped from your wallet immediately. You live for your work and you work to live, and you're just barely scrapping by to earn a living. Over 4 dollars at the pumps, and one should not be surprised if by the summer it is well close to five dollars.

We shall have to wait and see. It could turn out to be a little better than we can hope or much worse. Much much worse. If the economy in the last decade has taught us anything, it is that our worst expectations might not even scratch the surface.

And the Stock Market today, the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq were slightly in the down range, but not by much. The S and P 500 was up, retaining its record levels. So not a down note ending the week, but a note that
