After the Bell 9/12/11: Spongebob, Obama, Gold, and More

Welcome to After the Bell for September 12th 2011. Yes I know, I had only did one of these before not doing one for two weeks but I will do my best to make up for it right now. This is what is going on in the world and some general musings about life, after the bell rings to let the children out of school. Featuring talks about Obama Job Plan, Bank of America, the US Postal Service, SpongeBob apparently making children more stupid, Cliff Robertson and whatever else might strike my fancy.

Barack Obama’s really trying to kick things up a notch or twelve, since his popularity is in the sewer and the fact remains that he does have an election coming up. Well given him points for effort for this attempt to create new jobs but I think that we’ll all believe it when we see it. Words are something that are nice and all but when not backed up with a lot of action, it just rings a little hallow. So Obama is going to try and find some common sense alternative to make this work. Will he succeed? Who really knows at this point?

Given that Bank of America is on tap to cut about 30,000 or so jobs, we’re going to be in for a rough ride.

Not to mention the United States Postal Service is something that is really in dire straits as well. It is really one of those things where it would be difficult to see the life without the USPS. I don’t think it’s going to happen, we won’t see the end of the United States Postal Service for sure, but I think that we could see a cutdown to a four to five day mail week. Not counting holidays, which means some days will be at least three days.

Spongebob Squarepants is in some hot water apparently. There was a study where little kids who watched him did poorly. I have no idea what to make of this other than why would you do a study about such a thing?

Very sad to hearing about the passing of Cliff Robertson, a legendary actor. As a card carrying comic book geek, he is obviously best remembered as Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben in Spider-Man. Also as the criminal cowboy known as Shame in the Adam West Batman show. He will be missed.

Gold futures are sliding on the downward trent. That is really not a good sign.

Monday is pretty much in the books and who knows what the rest of this week will bring. It has just only begun. Remember no matter how rough life is, take it one step at a time.
