Psychological Affects of the Bad Economy

The economic slump over the past several years has hit all of us hard. While many individuals remain optimistic people will pull out of the slump, other individuals have a more logical assessment of the situation. The job market may yet pull itself back out. Figures can be manipulated and spun. Unemployment figures are interpreted the wrong way to make the United States government look like they have achieved something.

Yet, those who have lost their jobs tend to have lost their nerve and their confidence as well. What are the long term affects of the economy slump and the workers who have lost gainful employment. Instances where employees who were loyal to the company and gave the best years of their life to a company, found themselves out of luck. Not to mention right out of the job, as they scrambled to find anything.

The companies were just as much of a victim of circumstance as the employees were at that time. When a person worked at a place for years or even decades, it is a part of their life. Therefore, they tend to wonder what they did wrong. Thus, they second guess every little decision they made. Perhaps if these workers had worked a little harder, the company may still be in business. These doubts will cause a person's psyche to crack and doubt will sink in.

Why have people failed to find new jobs? The psychological issues described above are a huge part of. While laziness would be a part of the reason why people have failed, laziness is far from the only element. They lack the confidence to promote themselves to new employers. They sometimes find themselves longing for their old job. Those who have lost a job know that it can burn rather well and hard. The job seeker has to pull themselves up and go right back to business.

The government does not help with the situation. All figures released are based to interpretation. There is truth buried within the lies. The truth can be stretched and contorted into any number of elements. Government corruption and lies gave people false hope. Perhaps said politicians do believe they are improving things. The best lie would be one that you convinced yourself to be true. The economy is on shaky ground and may be for some time.

The unemployment of many people all boil down to some issues. Some people just cannot handle loss and the loss of their job is no exception. The economic slump and the various factors, plus a government who seemed inept to deal with such a situation, caused many people to be messed up. We are in for the long road unfortunately. Depression has been thrown around too loosely in many circles, but the loss of jobs caused many people depression.
