SOPA Not Dead, Merely Pushed Back to February

Forcing a good long look at the SOPA bill by Internet protests was a good start but we're not out of the woods yet. The fact is that we cannot rest until any interest in this bill is utterly torn right off the table. The government of the United States thinks that just because they can sweep things underneath the rug for a time and forget about them, means that everyone else will as well.

Hearings will resume in February, but those who support the bill are in for a rude awakening if they rather think that they are going to sneak anything through to allow this freedom bill.

And funnily enough, this quote by the CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America is a rather great indication of what those who support SOPA are trying to do, even if Mr. Chris Dodd is trying to say that it applies to those who oppose SOPA. I'd like to thank Mr. Dodd for such an accurate quote to describe what those backing this law are trying to do.

"It is an irresponsible response and a disservice to people who rely on them for information [and] use their services," Dodd said in a statement. "It's a dangerous and troubling development when the platforms that serve as gateways to information intentionally skew the facts to incite their users in order to further their corporate interests."

It does describe the entertainment industry to a tee, doesn't it?
