Over the past many years, there has been a belief based upon the Mayan Calendar, that the world is going to end in some circles on December 21st 2012. As the world edged perilously closer to that date, there were many skeptics and believers a like who were harshly debating if a long dead civilization, no matter how advanced, could in fact predict the end of the world. To some, it seemed like reality. To others, the December 21st 2012 doomsday seemed like absurd.
New discoveries recently came to light, as more about the Mayans has been discovered. It is interesting that as we get close to the actual date of destruction, a discovery is made pointing to that there is more to the Mayan calendar that we had previously thought.
The end of the world as we know it will not occur on December 21st 2012. That much is for certain. There is no debate about it anymore, as at the very least, this discovery has put to bed the fears of the Mayan Calendar Doomsday Prophecy, at least for the date at question.
Naturally just because one end date has been put to bed, it does not mean that other dates which will mark the end of the world as we know it will happen. There is always some deranged loon talking about doomsday. Last year the world was supposed to end on May 21st but we weathered that particular storm. And the time the world was supposed to end in 1999. And all the other times the world was supposed to end.
In the end, it is not like we can do anything about it if the world is going to end. We are going to just have to live life for what we have and not worry about what happens when the world is going to end. At least this latest news about the Mayan Calendar will put the rumors of the world ending on December 21st 2012 to rest.
That is until someone else decides to come along and talk about doomsday predictions. Then it will be on once again. Then again, basing what's happening in the future on a long dead civilization is on shaky ground.
