Santorum Wins the Battle in Louisiana Primary, but the War Rages On
The numbers do not lie. The one victory that Rick Santorum has achieved in the Louisiana Primary has bumped the delegates up to 251. Mitt Romney on the other hands, has more than double the delegates and more more key losses to Santorum would bump him straight right out of the race. Right now it is a two way battle.
While technically speaking, New Gingrich and Ron Paul are vying straight for the GOP Nomination, they are very much way beyond the call. The race is two horses, between Rick Sanotrum and Mitt Romney. Romney seemed like the favorite but if Santorum can manage an amazing come from behind victory, it would really shock a lot of people.
Most people think that Santorum is sticking right in the race, just prolonging the inevitable for Mitt Romney. The infighting that seems to be ripping the Republican party apart seems to be making another round of Barack Obama in 2012 seem more and more inevitable by each passing day. Obama's victory would be a horrifying thought to many, who feel that he has squandered the past four years.
Another person who seems unwilling to yield to defeat is Newt Gingrich. He vows to stick through with the race, right up until the Republican National Convention in August of 2012. Whether he is determined or just stubborn enough to yield is a subject of much debate. Then of course, there is Ron Paul, who is a rather polarizing figure, but he has his share of rather hardened supporters who will fight to him to the death.
The primaries are heating even more as we reach do or die. Romney is leading double but do not right off Santorum as of right now. The race for the GOP Nomination for the 2012 Presidential Election will continue.
The 2012 Presidential Election is one that many will be watching closely. The fate of the American people and the future of the nation will be on the line. Some people feel that no matter who wins, the people could be the real losers.
