Welcome to After the Bell for September 15th 2011, featuring all of the news and musings around the world that are going on as school is being let out for the day. As you may have guessed, there was no after the bell yesterday, due to the fact that there was a power outage in my area. Those squirrels never learn. So let’s get busy with the Thursday edition of After the Bell.
The never ending saga of Casey Anthony continues. She now has to pay back the full costs for the investigation of the disappearance and death of her daughter. Sources say that it would be approximately $100,000 dollars or so. Given that many people were calling for this woman’s head, I think that she got off lucky.
For boxing fans, the huge fight with Floyd Mayweather against Victor Ortiz is this weekend. Mayweather is one of the biggest stars in boxing and obviously any fight that he’ll have interest in it for sure.
As the closing bell of the Stock Market reaches a close, both the Dow Jones and the NASDAQ are up, which makes it some welcome and great news to say the very least. Some less than great news is the slide of Netflix stock. Netflix appears to have had many people leave and that is causing stock holders to become very nervous of the popular company. On the bright side on September 15th 2011, Energy Stocks are on the rise. It is always a mixed bag with the Stock Market and today is no exception
Any reforms to Social Security are not in the books for Obama. That has to make people worried. There has been doubt for years that Social Security would even be here a generation or two from now. Obviously we’re just going to have to wait and see, as anything Obama does right now or doesn’t do is going to have huge ramifications on anything.
Recent comments by Evangelist Pat Robertson have gotten people up in a stir. His words were that someone having Alzheimer’s disease makes a divorce okay has gotten many people up in a stir. Obviously this has gotten the reaction but then again, there have been many comments of a dubious nature of men who claim to be men of the Lord.
